samai-czasopismo-on-lineSAMAI – who are we?

SAMAI is an online Polish academic journal in the field of classical antiquity and early middle ages, symbolically until the age of Charlemagne. It is published in the Institute of History, University of Wrocław, drawing upon the tradition of the Antiquitas, a long-lasting series within Acta Universitatis Wratislaviensis, although in legal sense SAMAI is independent from the Antiquitas. Acting within this tradition, SAMAI is primarily concerned with ancient history, first of all with history of ancient Greece and Rome. SAMAI welcomes also texts dealing with history of Europe, Asia and Africa in early middle ages, especially if their topic relates somehow to classical antiquity.

All texts submitted to SAMAI are peer reviewed by experienced scholars in various fields of classical and medieval studies (historians, archaeologists, literary scholars) to assure high standards of papers published in this journal.

SAMAI is included in the list of scientific journals and reviewed materials from international conferences issued by Ministry of Education and Science in July 2023.

SAMAI is indexed in ERIH PLUS, DOAJ, Index Copernicus International (ICI Journals Master List 2020-2022), CEEOL and CEJSH

samai-czasopismo-on-lineOur Goals

SAMAI welcomes original academic papers and book reviews in Polish and English and in other major languages, if necessitated by the topic of the paper.

The editors wish to encourage young scholars to submit their papers to this journal in hope that SAMAI may become the first arena of their serious academic endeavor. SAMAI welcomes texts stemming from conference papers, of course on the condition of them being subject to a regular peer-review procedure. SAMAI is in particular interested in multidisciplinary texts in believe that research overstepping boundaries of traditional academic disciplines (history, classics, archaeology) may bring truly new and promising results, worthy of publication in this journal. Every author please be assured that peer reviewers will assess quality of the submitted papers, not taking into account the formal affiliation of their authors or their self-identification with an academic discipline.
